Oh, this story. This gorgeous, heart-wrenching, amazing story. It eats at me, it really does.
I found this volume very cathartic despite the chilling revelations. I think it was just nice to finally put some puzzle pieces in place. There are still so many questions, and more arise with more revelations. For one, I don't understand how Lacie seemed to so easily submit to her fate. And, the Intention of the Abyss seems to be as ambiguous as ever.

There are not enough reaction .gifs in the world to adequately explain how this volume made me feel. Especially the damn ending, which had me losing my mind in all kinds of ways. Jun Mochizuki, you've done it. You've trolled me so hard, I can't tell whether I love you or hate you for it. All I know is that I desperately want and need the eighteenth volume of Pandora Hearts right away, because with an ending chapter like the one in volume seventeen, I can't stand waiting for too long. I may or may not have read five of these volumes in under a week, so this review should prove… interesting. Right? After waiting months and months for my library to buy a copy of vol. 17, I finally gave up and bought my own. Only to discover that my library had done the same. Go figure. But now I’m starting my own collection. Right now I have Volumes 17, 23, and 24, all the ones not at the library. I don’t usually do this with books, but I’m hooked.

So Oz became a chain. The effects of a human being born in the abyss was the ability to create chains, similar to Glen's decomposing body. Oz became a chain when Alice gave life to him by feeling a strong emotion towards it. It was given life in the form of 'Oz, the B Rabbit' who caused the Tragedy of Sablier. That massacre was created by Jack, but also somehow Oswald, although I'm not sure how he fits into this, nor Gilbert and Vincent. Lacie was a Baskerville who was impulsive and unafraid of..more

I rarely give fives to individual volumes, but I think this one is worth it. I really enjoyed reading about Oswald, Jack, and Lacie's past. It was probably the most interesting set of chapters in the series, and it was a shame it ended. I mean, it makes sense why, but I still didn't want those chapters to end. And with this book, I have found the character I hate the most: Levi. He's a complete jerk who I have no sympathy for. And this 'ill omen' thing is b.s.

Everything you knew until know, about Jack, about Glen, about Alice..It was all just a lie. This volume, and the next one, will blow your mind. Prepare well for those volumes, cause you might feel total confuse. It's the true story about past of our characters and about their true intentions. If you thought Jack is hero, happy, beautifull and kind guy, you might change your mind. 180 degrees.
Jack never was certain character. You'll learn it soon.

Ah, the true past is beginning to unfold! This volume was so dang good!!!
So we finally learn about Lacie; she's an interesting character, and I hope to see more flashbacks/memories of her. I really like the way she ties into the whole story, and with Jack and Glen. Speaking of Glen..yeah, I love that whole plot twist, how each head of the Baskervilles takes the title 'Glen Baskerville'. And Levi was actually a really interesting character! And his experiment? Oh my goodness, this series is crack on a cracker and I simply cannot get enough. One thing after the other, it's bam-bam-bam. Such depth, such beautiful art, such disregard for sanity! And I LOVE IT! I'm afraid to elaborate for fear of spoilers slipping out. This particular twist opens up a whole new can of chaos, and I cannot wait until the next volume to see what happens. Who am I kidding? There wasn't just one twist.. at least three! I reiterate: crack on a cracker.

What a stunning volume. So many things are revealed, and a lot of things make so much more sense. I think it's drawing to a conclusion, and I can't wait to see how things turn out.
To me, this is one of the saddest volumes, if not THE saddest on so far. In this one, I truly realised how lost, how mad some of them are. Like it says, pure to the point that it becomes a warping.

My whole life was a lie:2nd times.
Jun Mochizuki, what did you do here? You changed all the understandings of mine 180 degrees. And this beautifully complex past and characters.. What are they going to do now? Why?

So, now moving in onto the next volume.
I've been giving this series a sold 4 stars ('I really liked it'), but at this point I need to kick it up a notch. Maybe it's because I'm so invested in the story and its characters, or maybe it's because all the murky, cryptic hints are finally coming into focus. The latest plot twist .. brilliant. It's time for five stars. I'm amazed and delighted.

This series..just..speechless at times and just drawn to the artwork. What more can I say? There's always a new twist here and there leaving us waiting for the next volume. Did I mention the artwork? Just.beautiful. Also 17 volumes so far, while the anime had only 1 season. Sigh, at least we have the manga series.
